Today our grade six classes were lucky enough to have a visit from our mayor, Mrs. Tanya Thorn. She came in to discuss the roles of the mayor and town councillors in local government. This is a major part of the grade six social studies curriculum as they learn about the various levels of Canadian government and democracy. #egssgrade6

This morning we had students in grade five and grade six writing the Mathematica Centrum test in the library. This is annual math contest that the school participates in for students across Canada. There were definitely some tough questions on the test but the students worked hard and were well prepared. They will be waiting patiently until we get the results in early June.
🙏
The grade 4 classes are learning about Light and Shadows and how lenses work. Dr. Courtney Wilcox came into share why it is important to protect our eyes (including the eyes’ lens) with sunglasses and proper eye care. The students were able to look at some contact lenses, try on some different glasses, including ones that allowed them to test their depth perception. They learned the importance of regular eye exams and eye health.
We have built up quite a collection in our lost and found these last few months. If you know you are missing a coat or snow pants (not to mention gloves and touques) stop in and take a look before the end of the week.
Our grade six boys were at the Aldersyde Fieldhouse today and had a great tournament as well. It was definitely a great wrap up to the season.

Last night's Influencer's Engagement Night was amazing! We had such a fantastic evening of consulting with parents, trustees, board office, and staff on visioning for our new school, improvements we could make, and celebrating. Thank you for the feedback and teamwork. ÉGSS community strong!
We had so much fun 🏒
The Grade 6 Staff-Student Hockey Game is always a highlight of the year for everyone involved. Both the players on the ice and those in the stands had an amazing time today. The teacher squeaked out another close win this year but the grade sixes definitely made them work for it. Great school spirit Good Shepherd!
