Our kindergarten classes this week were lucky enough to have some presentations on how to properly take care of their teeth. Mrs. Seitz, aka “The Tooth Fairy”, informed them all about how important it is to take care of their teeth and how they can do so.
Today we are celebrating Administrative Assistant’s Day and we couldn’t ask for better people here in the office than Desiree and Jodi.
Calling all new families to EGSS! Come join us for an information session all about the great things that are happening at our school!
We would like to welcome two new teachers onto our staff this week, Mrs. Gottselig and Mrs Dexter. We were able to hire both ladies thanks to some new provincial funding. They will be working in our early intervention department through the remainder of the year. Mrs. Gottselig has been in the building quite a bit over the last few years as a substitute teacher and Mrs. Dexter used to be one of our grade six teachers back before she had kids. It’s great to have them both on staff!
We hope you can join us this evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the library as Chris Sciberras, Christ the Redeemer's Coordinator of Mental Health Services, leads us in a discussion on Building Resilient Learners. It should be very informative and a big thank you to our School Council for setting this up.
We have arrived back after Easter vacation and can officially celebrate the Easter season. We continued our annual tradition today by decorating the foyer to put us into the celebrating mood. He is risen, let’s rejoice!
We were entertained on our way out the door today by our very own Brooke!! She played a song she learned from Mr. Bassett and played her own song too!
A few of our grade five and six French classes participated in an online tour of Louisbourg today related to their Social Studies curriculum. It was very informative and they even saw some old artifacts. I think a few of our teachers from Nova Scotia may have even felt a little homesick.
Some of our grade one classes re-enacted the last supper as a part of their religion classes this morning. It really helped bring the message of Holy Thursday to life for our students.
Yesterday was our first popcorn day and it was a huge success! Our division one students purchased over 600 bags of popcorn. Don’t worry grade 4, 5 and 6, your first day will be happening shortly after the Easter break. A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who help out with this! The money raised helps fund shirts for when the grade sizes go to camp at the end of June.
Our teachers love to learn from each other and last week, our french immersion team got together to collaborate and learn about strategies to improve oral language in french in a social setting. The teacher leaders even put together a box of resources for each grade. So inspirational!
Our grade 6s are hosting a popcorn day for division one today and it is a big deal around here! Division two will have their day coming soon. A big thank you goes out to our volunteers who help to make this day happen. Thanks for POPPIN in! We couldn't do this without you!
Some video of the division two stations of the cross put on by the grade 5s.
Our amazingly talented grade 5s led us in a music filled stations of the cross. This is always such a powerful presentation in our school and it was so nice to have parents join us and have all of division two in the gym together in prayer.
The grade two students led us in our division one Stations of the Cross on Tuesday. It was a great way to highlight Holy Week here in the school.
We have authors amongst us!! And they are already starting in grade 2! Today, I was visited by Dawson, Jazzy Jaz, Matilda, Timmy, Cassidy (Casseroni) from Mlle Janes' class with their very own books they wrote. They have written so many books and are now sharing it with the entire school. They also love to sticker their faces to showcase that they are authors too! Keep em coming authors!
"Hey Google...ask Samantha to play the Weekend's song called Save Your Tears For Another Day on the piano!!" How lucky are we that we get to be serenaded by real musicians in our foyer! What a start to our Friday!
