The mayor of Okotoks, Tanya Thorn, was in the school today talking to our grade six students about municipal government as a part of their Social Studies curriculum. They learned all about the roles of the mayor and how a local government works. Next week they will head downtown and spend some time in council chambers.

It has been an exciting week in Madame Riley’s kindergarten class this week. So far there have been 12 new additions to her room… all baby ducklings! The kids have been over the moon! (and they have had quite a few visitors as well.)

This was a big week with lots of events going on around our school! One particular event was.... MR. LAVERY TURNED 50 THIS WEEK! The students had so much fun singing to him. Some kids even dressed like him! Happy Bday Mr. Lavery!

Don't forget! We are holding an info night TONIGHT at 6 pm in the gym for all of our new families. We hope to see you there!

A huge congratulations goes out to Bailey Diakow, Ecole Good Shepherd School’s Edwin Parr winner this year. The Edwin Parr Award goes to a first year teacher who exemplifies a strong commitment to their students and the profession as a whole. Please join us in congratulating Bailey!

Our English grade one classes had an Author Publishing Party this afternoon. They each wrote two books that they shared with their parents and classmates. It was a fabulous turn out and the students were thrilled to share their stories with so many fans!

Today is Hats on for Mental Health and we had a huge portion of our students who were dressed up which was great to see.

The big week has finally arrived! The grade five and six drama performance of Annie will be this Friday evening starting at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from the office - $10 per adult, $5 per child. They have worked so hard and it will be great to see all their hard work pay off!

Mademoiselle Deon’s class are learning about flight in science and went outside to have a demonstration on Bernoulli’s Principle.

On Thursday afternoon, to celebrate Easter our grade four classes went all in on “Easter Sundae’s”.

Our French Immersion grade one classes performed a spring poem and song at this afternoon’s month end assembly. We may have set a record for the number of parents and grandparents in the building which was amazing to see!

Another successful egg drop challenge happened this week in Madame Brisbois' class with some very inventive designs! No broken eggs this year! Way to go!

Our kindergarten classes this week were lucky enough to have some presentations on how to properly take care of their teeth. Mrs. Seitz, aka “The Tooth Fairy”, informed them all about how important it is to take care of their teeth and how they can do so.

Today we are celebrating Administrative Assistant’s Day and we couldn’t ask for better people here in the office than Desiree and Jodi.

We would like to welcome two new teachers onto our staff this week, Mrs. Gottselig and Mrs Dexter. We were able to hire both ladies thanks to some new provincial funding. They will be working in our early intervention department through the remainder of the year. Mrs. Gottselig has been in the building quite a bit over the last few years as a substitute teacher and Mrs. Dexter used to be one of our grade six teachers back before she had kids. It’s great to have them both on staff!

We hope you can join us this evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the library as Chris Sciberras, Christ the Redeemer's Coordinator of Mental Health Services, leads us in a discussion on Building Resilient Learners. It should be very informative and a big thank you to our School Council for setting this up.

We have arrived back after Easter vacation and can officially celebrate the Easter season. We continued our annual tradition today by decorating the foyer to put us into the celebrating mood. He is risen, let’s rejoice!

We were entertained on our way out the door today by our very own Brooke!! She played a song she learned from Mr. Bassett and played her own song too!
