A huge thank you to our School Council for getting a DJ truck and hosting games out on the field during our Food Truck Feast this afternoon. The kids even were lucky enough to have some balloon art created for them by the Dufresne family.
We were able to celebrate the retirement of our Learning Support teacher Mike Querry this afternoon. After 31 years he is officially retiring. We started with a drumming circle and then transitioned into some thank you speeches and catching up with old friends and colleagues. He will still be around until the end of the year so be sure to pass along your best wishes to him. He will definitely be missed! A huge thank you to the staffs from other schools that Mike has taught at that were able to attend, especially St. Anthony’s, St. Mary’s and Central Office.
We had great weather for our grade four sports day this morning! The kids played a bunch of games including basketball, 4-square, and relay races. It was a great morning all around.
All five food trucks have arrived at Good Shepherd!! It all kicks off at 1:00 p.m. and the weather is cooperating so it should be an amazing afternoon!

After a wet start of the week, the weather co-operated for our grade two classes as hey all headed to the Zoo for their field trip. There were a lot of big smiles as they came back into the building at the end of the day and they said they had a fabulous time!
For the last two days after school our grade six extra-curricular badminton club has been playing their year-end tournaments. On Wednesday it was the boys and today was the girls turn. They all had a lot of fun and made some big improvements. Keep practicing and we’ll see you all on some St. John Paul II teams next year.
A privilege and a gift 🪨🌧 On Tuesday our Kindergarten team, along with other teams from Christ the Redeemer, had the honour and privilege to spend their day learning from Elder Randy Bottle. His lessons and stories most certainly touched their hearts.
Mrs Bolechowsky had her grade four music class play some piano solos for the kindergartens today!
We are going to have one final theme day tied in with our division two talent show. This coming Monday is officially 80s Day. Mr. Lorenz will be pulling out his acid wash and rumour has it Mrs. Hempel has some sweet leg warmers and a dress with padded shoulders. It should be a nice walk down memory lane (at least for the old fogies on staff!)
Dee Hahn came to visit the Grade 1 English classes today. She shared her book the Grave Thief and left them all wondering what would happen at the end of her book! It was quite a mysterious presentation and the students enjoyed every moment!
Our grade two students in Mlle Janes class paired up with their grade five buddies in Mlle Fitzpatrick class and played some games to develop their French language skills and also worked on some technology projects together.
Just two days away now, five food trucks are going to overtake the Good Shepherd parking lot. From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. everyone is invited to come by the school for our Year-end Tailgate Party. School Council will also have a mobile DJ truck and activities for kids. It is looking like the weather will be a lot better by Friday so it should be an great afternoon.
With all the rain today our students had an indoor recess. We got a few pictures of our grade three classes having fun playing games at lunch.
Today is the last hot lunch of the year. A huge thank you to all the volunteers this year who gave of their own time to make this possible for our students. It is truly appreciated!
Unfortunately the grade 4 field trip to Heritage Park has been cancelled today due to weather.

The results from our grade five and six Mathematica Test arrived and we were able to hand out the certificates to our students this morning. This test was written back in April and the we just got our marks back. It was a very hard test and congratulations to everyone who participated in the preparation and those who wrote the actual test. We are proud of everyone who participated.
This is an exciting day for our soon-to-be kindergarten students! Today we are having our kindergarten screening in the library so we can be as prepared as possible when they arrive at the end of August. The smiles on their faces is definitely contagious! We can’t wait to have them join us in the fall.
It wasn't just a band concert! We were also treated to some amazing ukelele and piano playing, as well as hearing some of their electric music compositions. A huge congratulations to the students as well as Mr. Bassett for all his guidance and hard work teaching them this year. ere are a few more pictures from the concert.
