Here is a video from last night grade six band concert.
Last night we were lucky enough to have our year-end grade six band concert and the students were definitely out to impress! They have only been playing their instruments for just over five months and it's amazing to see the progress they have made. Mrs. Crandell has some real stars in the making as these students enter St. John Paul II Collegiate next year.
A big thank you goes out to our facilities department as they built a dirt box for our outdoor kindergarten classroom. The students enjoyed playing in it yesterday before the rain showed up and are looking forward to spending more time in it throughout June.
As a bit of an early year-end wrap up/thank you to our families for an amazing year on Friday, June 17th we will be hosting a Summer Tailgate Party in our parking lot from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. There will be five food trucks, a DJ and our school council will also be running some activities for the students. It should be a lot of fun and we hope you can make it out.

Our grade five classes went to Spruce Meadows today for the field trip. They had an amazing experience which included spending time in their local wetland, checking out some new born colts, having an on-site veterinarian show them some his job responsibilities using a fake horse cadaver, checking out their beekeeping operation and seeing some showjumping while having lunch.
Today our grade one classes walked down to the new Okotoks Library and were treated to a behind the scenes tour. They really liked to see the staff area and learn all about how everything worked.
Our Student Leadership Team has started up our infamous Recess Clubs again! The grade 6 student leaders lead different grades through some fun recess games once a week. The student leaders work on their leadership skills through planning games, organizing large groups, and running games while the kids who are participating have the best time ever!
Staff today our staff had our annual Staff Appreciation Awards Luncheon where we were treated to a great meal and acknowledged our award winners. We have amazing staff members throughout the building and working with these colleagues brings us great joy (not to mention such awesome students!). Our award winners this year were… Jodi Bonham - The Power of One Award Jennifer Parkin - The Above and Beyond Award Krista Aiello - The Christian Witness Award Candace MacIsaac - The Excellence in Teaching Award Bailey Diakow - The Edwin Parr Award
We had everyone in the gymnasium this morning for our Living Rosary Celebration. This is the first time in over 2 years we have been able to all celebrate together in person. The grade threes did a great job in leading us and it was really nice to see so many students joining us in the prayers. #egssfaith
Our grade three classes are going through one last dress rehearsal for our school wide Living Rosary being held tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.
Our grade two French Immersion students had a theme week focused on camping which included all sort of learning activities; we were even treated to smores! Their wrap up today was "reading under the stars". A great time was had by all.
Our grade five and six classes spent an hour this morning with anti-racism advocate and educator Aubrey Noronha via Zoom discussing how best to combat racism around them. This was our second session with Aubrey and he is helped raise our awareness of our own biases and how we can commit to fighting racism we encounter. #ctrmanyandone
Buddy classes are a staple throughout the building here at EGSS. Today, one of the grade two French classes came together with their grade four buddies and worked on their oral French language development by playing various games. There was lots of smiles and a ton of vocabulary development!!
We are lucky enough today to have all our students participating in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Throughout the day all our students will spend time in silent prayer in the library in front of the consecrated host. Father Troy was also able to spend an hour with us so that some of our students could have the sacrament of reconciliation. #egssfaith
As a part of their Social Studies curriculum and learning about the various regions in Canada, our grade fives today participated in a Zoom all about Prince Edward Island straight from the Anne Of Green Gables Museum in Cavendish.
This Tuesday our grade six classes walked down to the town hall and spent some time doing a mock council meeting in chambers. It was a great learning experience for them.
Today we celebrated International Wheelchair Day and were lucky enough a former Holy Trinity Academy graduate and Paralympic medalist, Zak Madell in the school to talk about his life journey and celebrate his successes!
The grade two’s set the record this morning on building the biggest snowman. As the day continued more classes added on and it ended up looking more like a fort or tower. There were some other great snowmen out there as well. It made for a lot of fun at recess but hopefully that will be our last snowfall until next fall!
Today was our first day of our spring book fair. Classes circulated through the book fair all day seeing all the new books that are available. The book fair is open until noon on Thursday (and until 4:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday) so come on in and check it out.
