It was a pretty crazy morning for our grade one and two classes. Those leprechauns did a real number on some of our classes. It will take a little while to clean up after their mayhem this year. The students sure were excited though!
With COVID restrictions eased this month it was great to see our classes be able to once again head to St. James Parish for grade level masses. For March it was our grade two classes that went over for morning mass. #egssfaith
It looks like we had some mischievous visitors in the school last night! Hopefully those leprechauns didn’t do too much damage! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
The students in Mademoiselle Deon’s class were working on our hallway whiteboards in math this morning. They were working to understand the order of operations when tackling an equation. There were some pretty challenging questions and the students did really well.
Come to our School Council meeting tomorrow (either in person or online via Zoom) and see what GrACE has been up to these last few months. The work they do on behalf of Catholic school is so valuable!
Our grade five patrollers have made it through the winter and the school wanted to say thank you for all the hard work they have been doing. What better way to say thanks than with a pizza party! Keep up the great work patrollers!
Our grade three classes have spent time this week making rosaries. What a great way to start Lent! It has also been great to see some volunteers back in the building as well. #egssfaith
Almost 50 boys showed up today for the first practice. There were a lot of smiles and a ton of enthusiasm which was great to see! It should be an amazing month for both our girls and boys as they build their skills and get ready for the tournament at the beginning of April.
Today our grade six girls started their extracurricular basketball. They will be practicing at lunches for the next month and will have an in school tournament at the beginning of April. Tomorrow the boys get started!
Mme. Brisbois and Mlle. Diakow’s class have been working hard putting together their informational text showcase. Students selected a research topic of their choice and looked at the various text features from their non-fiction books to help inform their research. They selected their subtopics and took notes practicing their summarizing reading strategy. Today each class was able to see the final products of both classes and learn from each other as they chose 3 posters to find 3 facts.
This past week, we had Aubrey Noronha come speak to the grade 6s on truth and misconceptions about race. It was an excellent presentation. Stay tuned for more info on a parent night with Aubrey!
The students in Mademoiselle Coles class were working hard this morning creating book talks using a program called Flipgrid on the Chromebooks. We are excited to see the final products.
Before they moved on to their outdoor learning this morning our French Immersion kindergarten students helped out by shovelling the walks in front of the school and cleaning off the branches of our bushes. A big thank you goes out to them and… so cute!!!
In grade one, today is a big day - Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Our grade ones are going to be spending a lot of time this month reading and doing activities related to Dr. Seuss’ books.
As you can see the kids loved getting pancakes and sausages today for Shrove Tuesday. Thanks again to our school council for taking on this huge endeavour and with COVID restrictions being eased it was so nice to see volunteers back in the building.
Today is always a great day for our kids as it is Shrove Tuesday and for our students that means… PANCAKES!!! A big thank you to the Knights of Columbus for preparing pancakes and sausages for all our students this morning. They were at the church bright and early this morning and have been working hard to make this a special day for our students.
As Lent approaches this week, we will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday tomorrow. A big thank you to our School Council who will be supplying (and serving) pancakes and sausages to our students. As this is a huge endeavour, our students will begin to be fed starting just after 10:00 a.m. and the last students should receive their pancakes and sausages during our lunch hour. If you think your child will need more than two pancakes and two sausages please send them with additional food. Also, all students will need to bring their own drinks to school.
École Good Shepherd School wants to pass on a huge congratulations to our Christian Witness Award winner Krista Aiello. Krista is a true witness to her Catholic faith and always steps up to help students and staff throughout the school. We all know how lucky we are to have her on staff.
As a part of their Sky Science unit the grade sixes got to participate in a mobile planetarium show this week. They got to experience how the night time sky changes throughout the year and see all the constellations as appear in the sky each night. This is always a highlight for our grade sixes and it was great to see that they could experience it once again this year.
