All Good Shepherd teachers will be spending today and tomorrow attending their annual teacher's convention. This year, in light of COVID-19, all sessions are taking place online. There are a lot of sessions available and teachers are looking forward to continuing down the path of lifelong learning.
Yesterday we celebrated our second day of our staff faith days. We started the day with an Ash Wednesday liturgy in the gymnasium and then broke off into activities that included creating prayer blankets (the were later donated to the Project Warmth Society of Alberta), prayer reflections and making rosaries. The day ended with an art walk where staff learned more about all of the Al Gerritsen art work throughout the building. #egssfaith
A huge congratulations goes out to Brian Kommes, this year's recipient of École Good Shepherd School's Christian Witness Award. Brian is a true model of Catholic values throughout the building as he interacts with students and staff and challenges us to dive deeper into our faith. #egssfaith
We are off to a great start for our 2021 Staff Faith Days. Talking to us today about the power of being a Catholic educator is Chris Smeaton, former superintendent of Holy Spirit Catholic School Division, located in the Lethbridge area. #egssfaithdays
It is another cold one today! There will be no buses running today to and from Good Shepherd. If your child is walking to school or being dropped off please have them come directly in the front door. Stay warm and stay safe!
More 100 day photos!!
100 Day is always a highlight of the school year, especially for our grade ones and twos as they transform themselves into senior citizens. They all took part in a lot of great activities this week in math and literacy dealing with 100 day.
Last week, Tyler, Isidro, and Justin talked all about how great ideas can turn into inventions that change our world! Seriously! For example, did you know that a kid invented the trampoline, ear muffs, and popsicles!! Listen to the boys as they teach you how to make your idea come alive and perhaps change the world someday! Check out our latest podcasts at Even If You Miss available on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Don't forget to leave a review!! https://evenifyoumiss.blubrry.net/2021/01/26/even-if-you-miss-season-2-episode-13-inventions-innovations-and-creations/
New Even If You Miss Podcast Out! Our grade 6 leadership team writes a wellness podcast by kids for kids to make a difference in our world by helping kids develop healthy habits, growth mindsets, and give them tools to get through hard things. They are short 7-10 min podcasts that parents listen to in the car with their kids, teachers use them as learning tools, or kids listen to them to help them with their mindset. This week, Elliot and Kruz are teaching us ways to get OUT of this pandemic with a plan and a specific goal. They teach us ways to develop a system to actually accomplish your goal. Check it out and don't forget to leave a review! https://evenifyoumiss.blubrry.net/.../even-if-you-miss.../ The podcast is called Even If You Miss and it is available on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!
Turtle Tag!!!! Gotcha Mr. Lavery!!
Many of our teachers use circle meetings to bring their class together and discuss topics related to well-being. We believe starting these discussions from a young age helps students feel safe to discuss feelings and emotions. #BellLetsTalk
There will be no school tomorrow (January 29th) for the students. Teachers will be participating in professional development. Have a great weekend as the weather warms up! See you all on Monday.
Our student Faith week officially started today!!!! We started our days with kid written prayers, intentions and worship songs and ended our day with a decade of the rosary. Meanwhile each grade is dedicating an afternoon to Jesus learning about our Faith and embarking on a scavenger art walk of our beautiful art by Al Gerritsen. His work tells the many stories from the bible. Here are a few pictures from Mlle Coles’ class having fun with the scavenger bible hunt!
