It is moments like these that we are so thankful for the Advent season and the magic it brings. As we were walking by, we were blessed with singing by our kindergartens and Mr. Kommes and Mrs. Nori.
Our schoolwide Survivor game is in full force this week! Each class has a chance to be the last ones standing. If their name gets pulled, they get one chance to vi for immunity to get back in the game. Their chances involve pranks, sing alongs, dance offs, and so much fun. Mlle Cole's team had a 90s challenge to get as many people dancing as possible in the foyer without telling them to dance. So much fun and joy!
UPDATE 6:24 am – Dec. 20: Our school is open, but due to extremely cold temperatures and severe wind chills, buses will not run today. This includes both in-town and rural routes. Students and staff driving to school should use extra caution and plan for additional travel time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our families. Be safe out there!
We are pretty sure the grade one concert was 100% all about Mrs. Hempel - The Grinch! (Just kidding). It was great to see the amazing enthusiasm the students put into their reading and songs this evening. It was a ton of fun for everyone.
We took lunchtime today to thank our grade five patrollers for all the great work they have one so far this year. No better way to say thank you than some tasty pizza. #egssgrade5
There is going to be quite the sugar high in grade four later on today. They are all busy this morning decorating Christmas cookies. It looks like just as many treats are ending up in stomachs as on the cookies. We are looking forward to seeing the finished products. #egssgrade4
The Fourth Sunday of Advent symbolizes Love. All four candles will be lit on our Advent wreath and we will have a full circle of light. The Lord brings the light of love to his people by sending His only Son to earth for our salvation 💜
The grade fives gave us a tour of Christmas Around the World in tonight’s Christmas concert. We went all the way from Germany to Russia to Australia to Hawaii. They put on a great show with a lot of singing, ukuleles, and drumming. #egssgrade5
A Christmas Concert that includes Boney M’s Mary’s Boy Child… I’ll be there! The grade three classes did a great job with the retelling of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas this evening. It was great to see some fabulous songs in both English and French. #egssgrade3
It’s not very often when you show up at a Christmas concert and see a train. Well that’s what the grade twos had for us all at their concert on Monday evening. The students should be very proud of themselves and taught us all that the greatest gift at Christmas is our saviour Jesus. #egssgrade3
A big thank you goes out to our amazing staff as they all participated in a gift giving campaign to support the Magic of Christmas here in Okotoks. Over 60 gifts and gift cards were collected and will really help improve Christmas for some local families. #egssgoodworks
This third week of Advent centres on the theme of JOY, the joy that Christ’s birth brings to all people. In the church, we name the third Sunday “Gaudete Sunday” or “ Joyful Sunday “ as our waiting for the Savior is almost at an end💕 #Advent #EGSS
Here are some great pictures of our grade fours from before their show this evening.
The grades had it all in their Christmas concert this evening… singing, keyboards, boomwhackers, drumming and a great story about the birth of Jesus.
Some more videos from our KG night!
Let the Christmas concert season begin! Tonight the Kindergarten classes showcased their dance moves and even got their guests up and dancing as well. A special shout out to Mrs. Nori who has been a part of the Kindergarten Christmas tradition for 19 years!!!
A big thank you goes out to our students, parents and staff for stepping up and supporting such a worthwhile cause. Our school-wide pyjama day raised $852 dollars for the Rowan House Women's Shelter. It's great to see the school step up during the Christmas season and giving back to those in need. #egssgivesback
All we can say is WOW! The school had it’s Parent Council Christmas Bazaar today where students got to shop for Christmas presents for their family members. The students were so excited to find presents for each of the parents and brothers and sisters. We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s contributions and the 50 volunteers who were so generous with their time. Kudos all around!
The second Sunday of Advent has arrived and we focus on Peace 💜 This is a time of coming together, and of building a community of faith that is open to all. Peace is a gift that we must be prepared for. God gives us a gift of peace when we turn to God in faith!
