Today we are celebrating 100 Day here at school. Some of our grade ones are dressed up as 100 year old grandpas and grandmas. A few of those cranky oldtimers even told us to "get off my lawn!" The students will be doing lots of entertaining math activities involving the number 100 throughout the day and should have a lot of fun.

There was a lot of excitement today after school when our grade 5/6 drama group received their parts for their upcoming performance of Annie. They will be putting in a lot of hard work for the next few months memorizing lines but it is always a lot fun and the performance will be amazing!

This week the grade sizes are starting to play their concert band instruments. They are so excited to get started which is amazing to see. They will make huge improvements over the next few months and we look forward to hearing them play their first song!

Officially, Pink Shirt Day is February 23rd but as students will be out of school that day we will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day tomorrow. The mission of Pink Shirt Day is to create a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness and promoting a climate of anti-bullying.

We have all heard of the Wordle craze... well today Miss Parkin's class took part in a math version or Wordle called Nerdle. They needed to guess the math equation (numbers and operations) in 6 guesses. It only took them 4!

Daniel Gervais hosted two mini concerts for our French Immersion students this morning. There was a lot of great French music and even a little spoons playing!

It might not feel like winter but our students will be participating in outdoor activities all week. Our grade sizes got us started this morning.

The foyer has been decorated beautifully for Carnaval. We are in for a great week of activities as we celebrate Carnaval all week long.

A simple challenge to make #BellLetsTalk day real: message or call your family, friends and those in and around your inner circle for a "check in". Ask them how they are doing. Tell them (truthfully) what's up with you. See them, hear them, stay connected, get reconnected!

This afternoon our French Immersion classes were able to take part in the virtual presentation from the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller. There is nothing better than learning about dinosaurs; especially ones in our own backyard!

Our grade four English classes took part in an online distance learning opportunity through the Royal Tyrrell Museum. It centered on their social studies curriculum strand dealing with Alberta’s geography and history. They learned all about the badlands and why so many dinosaurs are found in this area. The students really enjoyed it and found it very informative. #egssgrade4

It looks like we will be having a cold snap for the rest of the week. Just as a reminder, when the weather is colder than -20 degrees celcius, (with the wind chill) the students will remain inside for recess. Please ensure your children are dressed properly for the weather.
